The Hans Glauber library is a public library in the municipality of Toblach in South Tyrol , Italy , which has been run full-time since 1987. It has around 500 m² of usable space including a children's area, a feel-good area and a panoramic terrace. It therefore also sees itself as an adventure library.

history

Originally the Hans Glauber library was located in the center of Alt-Toblach. Since 2010 it has been located, together with the kindergarten, in a modern building complex next to the Dobbiaco Middle School. Since then it bears the name of the ecologist and founder of the “Toblach Conversations”, Hans Glauber . In 2006, the Hans Glauber library received its first quality certificate as part of the South Tyrolean quality assurance system for public libraries. As a result, it also passed the repeat audits in 2009 and 2012.

Media and service offer

The library has a stock of around 13,000 items. Around 35 percent of the collection is in Italian, and there is also a small collection in English. Four computer workstations with Internet access and a WLAN connection are available to users, as well as a fax and photocopying service. The library has also been offering an iPad and two e-book readers since 2012 .

particularities

Since it reopened in 2010, the Hans Glauber library has functioned as a combined library at the same time as the school library for the Toblach Middle School. The Hans Glauber library was one of the first libraries in South Tyrol to deal with e-books . Since 2012, two e-book readers and a tablet have been available to users.
