Ukrainian Literature Library

The Library of Ukrainian Literature ( Russian Библиотека Украинской Литератупы, БУЛ ; Ukrainian Бібліотека української літератури ) was a public library in Moscow . It was founded in 1989 and was located at 6 Trifonovskaya Street. The library had around 60,000 media units.

history

There was a Ukrainian library in Moscow since the 1920s, and as the Central Ukrainian Library since the 1930s . In 1937 or 1938 it was closed as part of renovation work and the holdings were transferred to a Moscow district library.

In 1989 the Library of Ukrainian Literature was established. The media came from private donations and from the holdings of the State Library and the Nekrasov Public Library in Moscow. In 1994 she received 1,500 books from the library of the University of Lviv , including some copies that were still stamped by the former Central Ukrainian Library . The library changed its location several times. In 2006 she moved into her current building with the support of the Moscow City Administration.

In 2010 the library was searched for the first time and some media were confiscated. In 2015 it was searched again by heavily armed units, media confiscated and the head Natalja Scharina arrested. The library was closed.

Stocks

The Library of Ukrainian Literature had about 50,000 media units in 2006, including 25,000 books and 15,000 periodicals in Ukrainian , Russian , Polish , English and other languages. She has subscribed to over 150 newspapers and magazines.
