The library and media center
The library and media center (BMZ Speyer) is a service facility of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate. She is responsible for the literature and media supply and the subject-specific information transfer in the area of her regional church. It makes its materials and information available for all church fields of action. In addition, it is open to everyone who wants to find out more about theology, the church and the world and learn more about them. The exhibitions, author readings and lectures initiated by the BMZ, as well as their publications, are part of church education and public relations work. At the same time, the BMZ is the official library for the employees of the regional church council. It maintains the ecclesiastical and cultural heritage of the Palatinate regional church u. a. through the preservation and development of valuable old holdings from former parish libraries.
The online catalog lists the entire BMZ stock: 153,000 books, 15,000 audiovisual media (DVDs, video cassettes, audio CDs, CD-ROMs, transparencies, slides, media packages), 220 subscribed specialist journals, 75 online journals, 750 online videos, 700 e-books, 23,000 teaching materials, 1200 works, mainly sacred music, with 100,000 sheet music. In addition: 470,000 articles from magazines and compilations, including u. a. Scientific contributions, evidence of sermons, devotions, services, Bible studies, teaching units, etc.
Use of the BMZ is free of charge. The loan takes place as a direct loan. As a public institution, the materials and services are available to all interested parties.
