Library Council (GDR)

Library Council was a title that was awarded in the GDR in recognition of many years of leading or academic work in the state library system . The winner received a certificate as well as a one-time financial recognition and was entitled to use the title in connection with his name.

The titles were awarded by the Minister for Culture of the GDR and the councils of the districts .

Examples

In 1981, 51 librarians were honored. Dieter Schmidmaier also carried this title.
