Biennial form and glaze

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Form and Glaze Biennial was an important exhibition series in the field of ceramic art in Germany and Europe .

Background and meaning

The series of exhibitions and later biennial “Form and Glaze”, sponsored by Hoechst AG , Frankfurt am Main, began in 1969 and then continued in loose succession. From 1979 to 2000 it took place ten times as a "Biennale". It was one of the most important ceramic exhibitions in Germany during this period and also gained European importance because, in addition to a group of regularly exhibiting German artists, from 1973 two guest exhibitors from other European and international countries were invited by jury decision in addition to the core group, to participate in the respective exhibition or the later “Form und Glaze” biennial.
