Beer nomination

A drinking game with elements of a chain letter is called a beer nomination ( NekNomination or NekNominate , from to neck , “one tip, one drink”) .

The Internet phenomenon probably began in Australia. The game consists of a participant filming himself while drinking half a liter of beer in a train and posting this recording on the social network Facebook , asking three other people to do the same. The rules of the game require someone who does not comply with such a nomination within 24 hours to give the nominee a case of beer. Some participants found themselves motivated to design their drinking videos with self-endangering actions. In February 2014, the drinking game spread in German-speaking countries.

In South Africa , the rules were modified in such a way that instead of drinking, nominees are encouraged to engage in charitable activities.

Furthermore, the following modified versions of the game spread on Facebook:

  • Upload a picture of your own horse, if not fulfilled, the nominating person is entitled to a sack of horse feed
  • Upload a picture of your own car, if not fulfilled you are entitled to a full tank

Several deaths have occurred in connection with the game. On the one hand, these are due to particularly risky productions and, on the other hand, to the use of high-proof alcohol instead of beer. Furthermore, the general consumption of alcohol in society came up again in the discussion.
