The SV Concordia Staßfurt is a sports club from Staßfurt in Saxony-Anhalt . The club was founded in 1990 as the Concordia Staßfurt Police Sports Association and was renamed in 1991.
Handball
The club became known nationwide through its handball department , whose first men's team played in the regional handball league for several years . In the 1996/97 , 1997/98 and 2007/08 seasons , the team took part in the main round of the DHB Cup , but was eliminated in the first round. After the club filed for bankruptcy in 2009 , the handball department founded a new club, HV Rot-Weiss Staßfurt , which has been competing in the top handball league since the 2009/10 season .
