The Bigsby Medal is an award from the Geological Society of London for contributions to geology. The prize was founded in 1877 by John Jeremiah Bigsby and is awarded every two years to a recipient who has not had more than 25 years of research and is therefore in the middle of his career.

Originally, the awardee should not be older than 45 years and preferably work in the geology of America. The medal is awarded regardless of the country of origin.
