Bikutsi

Bikutsi , also Bikud-si, Bikudsi, Bikut-si , is a music and dance form that is performed in southern Cameroon . It is assigned to the Beti ethnic group , which lives mainly in the Center and South regions of the country.

The traditional Bikutsi is played with several handle-bar xylophones mendzan , a slit drum minkul and the bridge harp mvet . The modern variant, which has been heard in discos since around the 1980s, is played with electric guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals.

Well-known musicians and music groups are Messi Martin, Sally Nyolo , Anne-Marie Nzié , Lady Ponce, Patrice Emery Akondo, K-Tino , Les Veterans and Les Tetes Brulées .
