Bildstein from Stenbro
The Stenbro picture stone was found in 1998 near Stenbro near Silte on Gotland in Sweden .
The heavily weathered picture stone of Stenbro was found by accident in 1998 next to road 140 northwest of Silte when new cables were being laid. The stone, which was erected around 700 AD, is 3.5 meters high, 1.66 meters wide at the base and is in the History Museum in Stockholm . A copy is in a garden on site ( ⊙ ).
The Valkyries , known from other picture stones, can be recognized, which receive the dead warriors with methorns in Valhalla . A sailing ship from this period is depicted further down on the stone.
Another picture stone was found in the same area in the 19th century.
