William "Bill" Asprey (born September 11, 1936 in Wolverhampton ) is an English football player and coach. Asprey was born in Wolverhampton in 1936 . In his career he played 304 games for Stoke City between 1953/54 and 1965/66 . With whom he won the Second Division in 1963 and reached the final in the League Cup a year later . Other stations as a player were Oldham Athletic and Port Vale . After training as a coach, he began working as a coach in Southern Rhodesia and on the Coventry City staff . His first "real" head coach station was Oxford United . Asprey was presented in July 1979, but was released at Christmas due to lack of success. Eventually he returned to Stoke City where he initially acted as assistant coach to Richie Barker and finally replaced him in 1984. Due to health problems, however, he resigned from office after just one season.
