Billay G. Tunkara (* in Sudowol ) is a Gambian politician .

Billay G. Tunkara attended Daddy Jobe Comprehensive School in the 1990s, later he went to Stratford College of Management in Westfield , specializing in information and technology. He studied political science and international relations at Crescent University in Nigeria.

In 2017 he is a lecturer at Stratford College of Management Gambia.

Tunkara ran in the 2017 parliamentary elections as a candidate for the United Democratic Party (UDP) in the Kantora constituency in the Basse Administrative Area . With 48.72% he was able to win the constituency for himself, the second strongest candidate was Sulayman Ceesay from the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) with 29.68% of the vote.

In November 2019, the UDP dismissed eight party members from their party who were representing in parliament. The informed parliament now classifies the parliamentarians, including Tunkara, as independent MPs.

Tunkara has been married to a Gambian woman who lives in the United States since mid-2017.
