A bill knife is a figure of the old Bavarian superstition. A bill knife, also known locally as a buck tailor , is a person of otherwise normal life who turns into a demon at night who rides through the fields on a billy goat from the devil's stable. This figure is particularly fond of grain fields. The harvest is cursed and spoiled, so that crop failures occur. People suspected of bill messing have been shunned and expelled.
