Connective tissue nevus

The connective tissue nevus is a circumscribed malformation ( nevus ) of the connective tissue of the skin with excessive formation of collagen and elastic fibers . If the collagen content predominates , it is called a collagenoma , if the fibers are predominantly elastic, it is called an elastome .

The first description comes from the year 1921 by Felix Lewandowsky (quoted from C. Gutmann).

Classification

The following classification is common:

  • Nevus elasticus
  • coarse-knotted, disseminated connective tissue nevus
  • Lumbar sacral connective tissue nevus
  • Elastoma juvenile

Occurrence

Connective tissue nevi can occur in isolation or as part of syndromes such as tuberous sclerosis (Bourneville-Pringle) and Buschke-Ollendorff syndrome .

Depending on the extent and location, surgical removal or injection of steroids are possible.
