Binding place

In surface physics , a binding site is understood to be those sites on the surface of a solid where the forces acting on a single adatom cancel each other out. In the case of a square unit cell, e.g. B. the place in the middle of four atoms of the substrate or directly on an atom. The adatoms primarily occupy the positions of lowest energy.
