United Nations Conference on Biodiversity 2018

The United Nations Biodiversity Conference 2018 took place from November 13th to 29th, 2018 in Sharm el-Sheikh , Egypt . The United Nations called on decision-makers from more than 190 countries to end the loss of biodiversity and protect ecosystems in order to guarantee the safety of food and water and human health.

The biodiversity conference included the meetings of the governing bodies of the Biodiversity Convention and its protocols as well as other parallel forums and summits. It comprised the 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Biodiversity Convention, the ninth meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol and the 3rd meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol .

On the margins of the United Nations Conference on Biodiversity, pledges in support of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 were made by governments, companies, non-governmental and intergovernmental organizations, cities and sub-national authorities, indigenous peoples and local communities, youth and civil society.
