history
The journal was founded in 1877 by Felix Hoppe-Seyler under the name "Zeitschrift für Physiologische Chemie". After Hoppe Seyler's death in 1896, the name was changed to "Hoppe-Seyler's Journal for Physiological Chemistry"; the change lasted until 1985. From 1985 to 1996 the name "Biological Chemistry Hoppe-Seyler" was used. The magazine has been published under its current name since 1996 and is currently published monthly. Articles from all areas of biochemistry are published. The journal is associated with the Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology .
