Biometrics Institute

The Biometrics Institute (German: Institute of Biometrics ) is an international association that offers information, training, research and a network of experts on biometrics . The association, based in London, is a user group whose members are primarily government agencies and companies such as financial institutions that use biometric technologies now or in the future, technology providers and consultants are also members, but according to the statutes have fewer voting rights in association matters than users. The association is located in Australia and Europeand has over 100 member organizations. The association organizes four international conferences per year: in March in Wellington, New Zealand, in May in Sydney, Australia, in June in London and in November in Canberra, Australia.

history

The institute was founded in October 2001 with one-time funding from the Australian government. In July 2011 it opened a branch in London. The statutes of the Institute for Biometry give users more options than manufacturers. So far it has worked successfully on two projects in collaboration with the Australian government: a guideline for the data protection of biometric data and a method for measuring the vulnerability of biometric systems.

tasks

The purpose is to promote the responsible use of biometric technologies. It offers training courses and conferences to educate members about biometrics and help them implement the technology. It takes part in the development of standards and test methods and provides the opportunity to learn about experiences in biometrics in an informal way.
