The BIOTECHNICA is a trade fair for biotechnology and life sciences . It takes place at the Hanover Exhibition Center , the organizer is Deutsche Messe AG .
Biotechnica has been held in Hanover since 1985. The fair, which takes place annually until 2010, will be held every two years from 2011 onwards.

In 2010 the fair was visited by around 500 exhibitors and 9,500 visitors from 40 nations. In 2011 there was a significant increase in exhibitors and visitors. A total of 618 exhibitors from 28 nations presented their innovations and 11,000 visitors came to the largest European biotechnology event in Hanover.
