In mathematics, the "square of the square" is referred to as a biquadrat , i.e. the fourth power of a number , for example .

Biquadratic equations are polynomial equations in which a biquadrat appears as the highest power. More specifically, it is often also required that a biquadratic equation only has even exponents:
