The J. Hozman Airport ( IATA code ETH , ICAO code LLET ) is situated in the Israeli city of Eilat on the Red Sea , and separates the residential town of the hotel zone from. It was shut down in 2019.

history

The airport was established in 1949 and was a former military airport. It recorded falling passenger numbers, which is why a renovation was carried out in the early 2000s. Until its closure on March 18, 2019, it served almost exclusively domestic flights to Tel Aviv's Ben-Gurion and Sde-Dow airports and Haifa Airport .

Ilan and Assaf Ramon International Airport Eilat

J. Hozman Airport has been replaced by the new Ilan and Assaf Ramon International Airport Eilat, also called "Ramon Airport" ( IATA code ETM), which was built near Timna in the Arava Valley. The new airport, which was built for the equivalent of around 400 million euros, was officially opened on January 21, 2019 and the first international flight movements began in March 2019.
