Birahim Diop (born February 7, 1979 in Thiès ) is a Senegalese soccer player who last played in 2012 in Major League Soccer at Sporting Kansas City .

Career

Birahim Diop started his career in 1999 with the Senegalese club US Rail , where he played for a year. In 2000 he moved to the top club ASC Jeanne d'Arc , with whom he became champions in the 2001 season. After winning this title, he moved to the United States for the New York MetroStars . After he was actually intended for the reserve team, he completed four games in the professional team under coach Octavio Zambrano . In 2003 he moved to Deportivo Pereira in Colombia , where he played until 2005. In January 2006 he followed his old trainer with the MetroStars to CS Tiligul-Tiras Tiraspol . By 2008 he had played twenty games in which he scored three goals. On March 17, 2010, he returned to the United States and signed a contract with the Kansas City Wizards . His ex-trainer Zambrano also works there as an assistant trainer. He scored his first two goals in the MLS on August 21 in a 4-1 win over New England Revolution . On October 23, he scored his first hat trick in a 4-1 win over the San José Earthquakes . For the 2011 season, the club was called Sporting Kansas City . Diop has made five appearances this season.

On March 26, 2012, Diop was removed from the Sporting Kansas City squad.
