Pear stick
In architecture, a rod-shaped component with a pear-like cross-section is referred to as a pear rod . This shape had developed from the rounded profiles of the early Gothic in the style epoch of the High Gothic as a sharp-edged decorative profile with covings . In the late Gothic period, variously ridged profiles emerged, but also emphatically simple shapes. Pear rod elements were used for vault ribs , arches, services on pillars, soffits of windows, portal walls and archivolts .
