Bishop Wienken House

The Bischof-Wienken-Haus is a house on Tiergartenstrasse 74 in Dresden-Strehlen that is a listed building. It was named after the bishop of Meissen (1951–1957) Heinrich Wienken (1883–1961).

description

The house, built by Albin Müller in 1930, is characterized by the new building style, with influences from " Frank Lloyd Wright and the Dutch De Stijl movement" being evident.

The two-storey building was built on a classic floor plan, where all rooms are arranged along a central axis. This leads from the door to the viewing terrace. On the ground floor there is a portico consisting of six pylons that adorn the main entrance. On the first floor, the five windows are combined by a plaster band. An attic with a cantilevered flat roof was placed on top of the two-storey building. However, the top floor is set back from the rest of the building, similar to a step tower .
