The Aš Bismarck Tower is one of three Bismarck towers in the Czech Republic . It is located on the mountain Háj (Hainberg) near (Asch).

history

In 1874 a building fund was set up with a base of 50 guilders, which grew to 1,340 guilders after donations from citizens. In 1898 the building contract was awarded to the architect Wilhelm Kreis from Dresden, who was awarded a gold medal for his building plan in 1901 at an art exhibition there. The foundation stone was laid on September 5, 1902. From October 18, 1902, under the supervision of Ernst Hausner, 666 cubic meters of granite were used. The total costs of approx. 58,970 guilders exceeded the estimated 44,000 guilders considerably. The Bismarck Tower was opened on December 22, 1903 and inaugurated in 1904.
