The term flowering plants means:

• in a broader sense the seed plants (Spermatophytina), that is
  • the Nacktsamer (Gymnospermae) (e.g. conifers) and
  • the bed covers (Angiospermae or Magnoliopsida),
• or, deviating from this,
  • only the more subdued.
