Blacksmith

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Blanksmith is a professional and trade name for a blacksmith who mainly produces cutting tools from steel such as knives, hatchets, scythes, woodworking tools, shovels and spades and other gardening tools. These are mostly produced by open die forging using a hammer and anvil.

The finished forged tools are ground and sharpened in a further work step, from which the name is derived.
