Building history

The house is right next to the Landsberger Hof . It is a lattice eaves construction with slightly cantilevered floors and a hipped roof . The house was built after the great city fire in 1709. According to other information, it was only built in the classical style in 1815/16 in a vacant lot caused by a smaller fire . The building was clad in boards around 1820/30. The house owes its name to their bluish color.

The originally high hipped roof was replaced by a flatter roof in 1969 as a result of temporary structural damage. The removal of the planking and the uncovering of the framework were refused in the 1960s for reasons of monument preservation.

In front of the building is a terrace-like forecourt, which has been redesigned over the years.

use

The house belonged to different owners and served different purposes. Around 1820 it belonged to the district surgeon Dr. Stanek. Fritz Uri ran a hotel there at the end of the 19th century. Fritz Schimpf set up a turner's shop and a tobacco shop. The tobacco trade existed under a different owner until 1969. This was followed by the office of the municipal tourist office and later an insurance office.

Since 1983 it has been registered as the Bürgerhaus Alter Markt 30 under number 67 in the list of monuments of the city of Arnsberg .

modification

The building has been owned by the Hochsauerlandkreis or the district's own economic development company since 2002 . In 2010 it was decided to house the district media center and the administration of the Sauerlandmuseum in the house . For this purpose, the building was extensively renovated. Among other things, the house got a new roof structure and today has the original roof shape again. Parts of a backyard were roofed over by a glass construction and converted into an event room.

Due to an unexpectedly high increase in costs as a result of the poor building fabric, the project was politically controversial at times.
