Blue shirt (falcon)
The blue shirt is the traditional outfit of the falcons in Germany ( SJD-Die Falken ) and Austria ( Rote Falken ), as well as the socialist youth in Austria since the Weimar Republic . It is usually worn together with a red scarf. As a symbol , the blue shirt should indicate the origin of the labor movement and the red cloth should indicate the proximity to socialism and social democracy . The blue shirt was created by the Red Falcons in Austria.
Since the GDR youth organization FDJ had also been wearing blue shirts since 1946 , before reunification many young falcons rejected the blue shirt as an expression of uniformity. In contrast to the blue shirt of the FDJ, the blue shirt of the falcon has no shoulder boards. The FDJ shirt was also worn without a blue or red scarf, which was reserved for the Young and Thälmann pioneers in the GDR . Before reunification, the FDJ blue shirt was banned in western Germany as a symbol of a prohibited organization. The falcon blue shirt was not affected by the West German FDJ's shirt ban. In the meantime the blue shirt has become more popular again with the falcons.
