Bleeker (comic)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bleeker the electronic dog (English Bleeker the rechargeable dog ) is a comic book by the Canadian author Jonathan Mahood . He became known in Germany through weekly publications in "Kinderzeit", the children's edition of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit . It's about the boy Skip and his robot dog Bleeker.

history

Bleeker made his debut in 2006 on Comicsherpa, a website for as-yet-unknown comics . February 2007 GoComics added Bleeker to its online distribution network. There is a new bleeker strip (in English) every day. The author has had a blog since March 2007 , which is updated more or less regularly and offers insights into the history of the comic. Since June 2008, a weekly comic strip has been published in the children's time issue of ZEIT . This is the first translation of the Bleeker comics.

Mahood names the Peanuts , Bloom County , The Far Site and Krazy Kat as influences .

A television series has been planned since 2007.

characters

Skip

Skip is a boy of around 14 years. He has a pretty chaotic streak, so his parents preferred to give him a robot dog instead of a real dog. There are at least spare parts for this one.

Bleeker

Bleeker is a very advanced robot dog. He has built in all sorts of technical gadgets: from a music player to a rocket drive to a built-in touchscreen, which he doesn't like to be touched. Above all, he can speak and think - mostly better than Skip.

Karl

In October 2007, the new character Karl appeared. Karl is a choleric vacuum cleaner robot. He takes his job extremely seriously and doggedly. His constant bad mood stems not least from the fact that he is often the victim of Skip's pranks.

Refurb

Refurb the Dino-Bot has lived in the household since March 2008. Refurb's job in the household is not clearly defined. He is a bit difficult to understand and usually does not understand what is going on.

purple

Lila is a neighbor girl. She is good at school and likes Skip, but keeps shaking her head at Skip's messy manner.

Lewis

Lewis has been there since June 2007. Lewis is a dark-skinned neighbor boy and Skip's best friend. In contrast to Skip, Lewis is very interested in technical things and is always developing new add-ons for Bleeker.

Skip's family

Skip's parents and grandfather are never in the picture, but his grandmother (Grandma Klotzkopf) appears a few times. You can only hear them speaking off-screen. However, there are draft drawings of them as part of the planned TV production.

Since the end of 2008, Skip has a little sister named Molly.
