The small island Blejski Otok is located in Lake Bled in the municipality of Bled in the Slovenian region of Upper Carniola . The approximately 0.8 hectare island rises eight meters above the lake level and is located in the southwest. It is the only island in the country in a lake.

There has been a church building there since 1465 (Assumption of Mary); the last major renovation took place in the 17th century. You can get to the island in muscle-powered boats (called pletna ) that can seat 20 passengers.

There are significant excavations from the early and high Middle Ages on the island .
