Aperture (mineralogy)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Blende is a miner's term used in mineralogy since the 16th century for minerals and ores which, due to their weight and shine, suggested a high metal content, but which could not be obtained due to the analysis and smelting techniques of the time ("Blende is a glinting mountain -Art, black and also yellow, so no metal leads, and often blinds and cheats the miner. ”Zedler 1733). Even when the "blende" was recognized as zinc ore, the term zinc blende ( sphalerite ) was retained. Other appropriate minerals are, for example, pitchblende ( uraninite ) Schalenblende and manganese diaphragm ( Alabandin ).
