Blind side

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
half upright flatfish, the difference between the eye and the blind side is clearly visible

In flatfish (Pleuronectiformes), the blind side refers to the side of the body with which the animals lie on the seabed. In contrast to the eye side, this has no eyes, as these have migrated to one side of the body during the metamorphosis . In contrast to the mostly dark side of the eye, which is adapted to the seabed, the blind side is usually light and only marked by individual spots.
