Block bricks

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A block brick is - as opposed to a flat brick - a conventionally manufactured brick that is not ground flat after the firing process and therefore has higher dimensional tolerances. Because of the possible unevenness, block bricks are not processed together with thin-bed mortar , but rather placed in the classic horizontal joint, i.e. in a mortar bed 12 millimeters thick.

The advantage of this procedure is the compensation of unevenness and the simpler realization of special constructions.

Despite the higher effort, block bricks can also be used to work efficiently for applications in thermal insulation and soundproofing . More recent developments for this are large formats with butt joint teeth and the simultaneous use of thermal insulation mortar .
