The Blue Bird Corporation (formerly known as The Blue Bird Body Company ) is a OTC trading of listed American bus manufacturer based in Fort Valley , Georgia . The company is known worldwide as a manufacturer of typical American school buses . In addition to these, other bus types, such as B. made mobile homes , buses , mobile libraries and emergency vehicles for the police and fire brigade. One of the biggest competitors in the American school bus market is Thomas Built Buses .
history
Albert L. Luce built his first school bus made of sheet steel in 1927 and began series production in 1932 under the name Blue Bird Body Company. The company remained family-owned until the early 1990s. After a few changes of ownership in the 2000s, Blue Bird became majority-owned by Cerberus Capital Management in February 2015 , the rest of the shares are in free float.
