Blue Fang Games was an American computer game developer best known for its Zoo Tycoon series of games. The company closed in 2011 after it was unable to secure orders and financing for new projects.
history
Blue Fang Games was founded in 1998 by Adam Levesque and John Wheeler, who were previously executive employees at Papyrus Design (including NASCAR Racing ). The most successful titles were the first work Zoo Tycoon and the direct successor Zoo Tycoon 2 , which sold millions of times, received several expansions and in 2004 and 2005 were each recognized as the best family game at the Interactive Achievement Awards .
Subsequent attempts to build on these successes on platforms of the console manufacturer Nintendo were thwarted by the collapse of the market for Nintendo DS and Wii. Entry into the mobile and social games market was also unsuccessful. Developed as a final project Blue Fang on behalf of The Learning Company implementations of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? and The Oregon Trail for the social network Facebook . The last developers were laid off in July 2011, and the company was finally closed in September.
