The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation is a style guide for legal texts whose citation rules are widely used, especially in the USA. The Bluebook isco-editedby the Harvard Law Review , the Columbia Law Review, the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, and the Yale Law Journal. The name Bluebook is derived from the blue cover of the book.

Alternative models are offered by the ALWD Citation Manual in the United States, the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA) developed by Peter Birks in Great Britain , the Australian Guide to Legal Citation in Australia and the McGill Guide in Canada.
