Bluesology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bluesology was a British blues band from the 1960s that featured Reginald Kenneth Dwight (now known as Elton John ).

As part of the British blues revival, Bluesology was founded as a quartet in Middlesex in the mid-1960s . The original band members were Reg Dwight (keyboards), Stuart Brown (guitar), Rex Bishop (bass) and Mick Inkpen (drums). First they accompanied American stars who were touring in Great Britain and Europe, such as Doris Troy , Major Lance and the Blue Belles with Patti LaBelle .

In 1966 Long John Baldry went on tour with Bluesology. At that time, Mark Charig (trumpet), Elton Dean (saxophone), Neil Hubbard (guitar) and Caleb Quaye (guitar) belonged to the band as well as the founding members . When Baldry turned away from the blues to record pop ballads, Bernie Holland joined Bluesology as a guitarist . As a backing band to Baldry, who also turned to the pop market with Let The Heartaches Begin , the group existed until the end of 1969. Reginald Dwight later called himself Elton Dean and John Baldry in honor of Elton John.

The band Bluesology has only released three singles in the course of its existence: Come Back Baby and Mister Frantic as "Bluesology" and Since I Found You Baby as "Stu Brown and Bluesology".
