Blood group serology

The serology is a subspecialty of serology , devoted to the analysis of the blood serum with respect to the blood group is concerned.

The blood group is determined via hemagglutination , which is triggered by an antiserum specific to the blood group. The reaction of a blood group characteristic with its specific antibody initially leads to an antigen-antibody complex. This complex can lead to hemolysis when complement is activated.
