Bob Mersereau

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bob Ellis Mersereau (* 1960 ) is a Canadian cultural journalist with a focus on music.

Life

Since 1982 Mersereau has been a columnist and art journalist for CBC Television , CBC Radio One and the Telegraph-Journal . He has a weekly music column on CBC Radio One called Shift and publishes East Coast Music on CBC Television . He has also published articles in magazines such as The Coast Magazine and The Globe and Mail . His focus is on the music of the east coast.

He has published a total of three music books on the Canadian music scene: The Top 100 Canadian Albums (2007, 6 editions), The Top 100 Canadian Singles (2010, 4 editions) and The History of Canadian Rock 'n' Roll (2015, 6 editions). The two top 100 lists were compiled from over 600 lists by music journalists. All three works are considered important works on Canadian popular music because they sparked debate about Canadian music history. The two lists in particular sparked debate. They were criticized because many of the entries included older works and newer music hardly appeared in the two lists. The book The History of Canadian Rock 'n' Roll, on the other hand, also includes smaller scenes and unknown artists.

In 2014 he won the East Coast Music Association's Stompin 'Tom Award Volunteer of the Year.

Mersereau is currently working on a book about the Canadian singer-songwriter Gene MacLellan .
