Bocca Tigris or Die Bogue ( Chinese  虎門  /  虎门 , Pinyin hǔmén  - "Tiger Gate", ie entrance to the Canton River) is a narrow area in the Pearl River Delta , Guangdong , People's Republic of China , before the Pearl River (China) widens to the Zhujiang Kou Bay. Since 1997, the Narrows have been spanned by the Humen-Pearl River Bridge.

history

Because of its strategic location as a shipping route to Guangzhou , the narrowness was traditionally fortified and some major battles in the First Opium War took place here.

  • East Coast: Humen City , Dongguan (prefecture-level city)
  • The Upper and Lower Hengdang Islands ( 横 档 岛 ) are located in the middle of the Humen Bridge.

  • Nansha Pier ( 新 南沙 客运港 ), in Nansha Ward , 1.6 km south of Humen Bridge
