The Altbelgerner post mill is a listed historic post mill from 1834. It is located about one kilometer from the Elbe in the Martinskirchen part of the Altbelgern municipality in the small town of Mühlberg / Elbe in southern Brandenburg in the Elbe-Elster district .

history

A windmill is recorded in Altbelgern as early as 1781. The historic post mill was built in 1834. Except in 1834, it was mentioned in documents in 1900 and 1925, among others. The mill has a grinding aisle with elevator and hexagonal sifter. In 1953 it was equipped with an electric motor. Commercial operations were discontinued in the early 1960s. From 1990 to 1998 the mill, which was then worthy of renovation, was extensively reconstructed.

The mill has been owned by the Nitzsche family for five generations. In the present, the partly functional technical monument is used sporadically as a foam mill. It is put into operation at various events, such as the annual German Milling Day . Guided tours are offered on request. It is connected to tourism via the Elbe cycle path, among other things .
