Bodhipakkhiyadhamma

Bodhipakkhiyadhamma describes the 37 things required for enlightenment from the point of view of Theravada Buddhism and is a kind of short summary of the Buddhist teaching as described in the Pali Canon . This list comes from u. a. the Longer Discourse to Sakuludāyin (Mahāsakuludāyi Sutta), which is contained in the Intermediate Compilation ( Majjhima Nikāya , Sutta 77). However, they are not referred to by name there.

The 37 things required for enlightenment

The Four Basics of Mindfulness ( Satipatthana )

  1. Mindfulness of the Body ( Kayanupassana )
  2. Mindfulness of the emotional tones ( Vedananupassana )
  3. Mindfulness of states of mind ( cittanupassana )
  4. Mindfulness of Mind Objects ( Dhammanupassana )

The four right efforts ( samma padhana )

  1. Avoid unscathed things that have not been ascended.
  2. Give up / dissolve ascended unwholesome things.
  3. Calling into life unsurpassed healing things.
  4. Consolidate ascended wholesome things.

The four ways to success ( iddhipāda )
