The Bodum AG is a Danish manufacturer of cookware and utensils with headquarters in Switzerland .

The company was founded in Copenhagen in 1944 and is still family-owned today.

From the very beginning, Peter Bodum followed the principle " form follows function ".

With his coffee maker Santos he received international recognition for its unique design; this became one of the world's most important coffee makers in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Even today, Santos is still produced by Bodum in the original design (which comes from Kaas Klaeson).

In 1974, Jørgen Bodum, the founder's son, took over the management and in 1978 relocated the company's headquarters to Triengen in the canton of Lucerne .

In 1986 Bodum opened its first shop in London, followed by shops in Paris, Copenhagen, Zurich, Lucerne, New York (closed in 2007) and Tokyo. In 2013 there were 52 Bodum shops worldwide. There are also shops in shops in other countries.

Bodum is a leading manufacturer of plunger pots and vacuum coffee makers . Mainly known for its stamping cans, the company name is often associated with them.

Bodum consists of holding companies in Denmark and Switzerland, 12 sales companies and three production companies. Pi Design AG, which owns the rights to the products, brands, patents and tools, is also based in Switzerland.
