Arch separator

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A sheet separator (also suction head or suction lock) is an assembly in the sheet feeder of a sheet processing machine ( printing machine , punching machine , folding machine ). Usually the top sheet of the stacked starting material is lifted off by negative pressure, while at the same time compressed air blown laterally between the individual layers reduces the friction between the individual sheets.

How the trailing edge works

The sheet separator separates the sheets individually at the rear edge of the stack. To do this, lifting suction devices lift the upper sheet and transfer the sheet to the transport suction devices . A feeler foot then presses the lower sheets onto the stack. The suction cups then move the sheet forward. Before the suction cups reach the front position, the suction cups lift the next sheet, which is then pushed under the previous sheet by the suction cups. This is how the scale is created.

How the leading edge cutter works

The sheet separator separates the sheets individually at the front edge of the stack. It is waited until the previous sheet has been transported past completely. Then suction cups are placed on the leading edge of the sheet and the sheet is pulled to the processing point. ( Single sheet feeder )
