The island Bolmsö in Sweden's Småland is the largest island in the lake Bolmen . It is connected to the mainland by a bridge and a ferry connection with the cable ferry Bolmia to Sunnaryd. The main source of income is tourism.
On the island there is a village of the same name with about 390 inhabitants. In the village of Kyrkby, which is the landing stage for the small ferry connection, there is a 19th century church, a campsite and an inn.
In the northern and eastern parts of the island there are a large number of graves ( Kungshögen ) and other finds, some of which can be dated back to the Stone Age . At times the island was of great importance, so the gold find from Håringe was found here and there was a pagan temple called Hof on it. The island used to be the royal residence.
