The Bolmia is a Swedish motorized cable ferry that connects the island of Bolmsö in Kronobergs län (road 518) with Sunnaryd in Jönköpings län (road 555).

Bolmsöleden

Sweden's longest cable ferry

The Bolmsöleden said connection to the island was established in 1872. After the ferry was operated until 1927 with rowing boats, the first motorized ferry was used from this year. The larger motor ferry, which started operating in 1950, was replaced by the Bolmia in 1969 .

The ferry connection is 1060 m long. The crossing over Lake Bolmen takes ten minutes and at most times only takes place as required or requested. The ship is usually in Sunnaryd. The connection is the longest cable ferry in Sweden.

The Bolmia was put into operation in 1969 with the internal number 62/285 by the Vägverket road traffic authority in Stockholm . After the parts were prefabricated, the ship was assembled directly on site.

In 1992 the ferry was taken over by the Färjerederiet Vägverket and was named Bolmia . In 2010, the shipping company has been through the integration of Vägverket in Trafikverket in Trafikverket Färjerederiet renamed.
