Volvo Penta is a company within the Volvo Group. It offers engines and complete propulsion systems for pleasure craft, commercial shipping, power generators and industrial applications.

Volvo Penta operates worldwide, is the market leader in the industry and operates the largest dealer network in the world with more than 4,000 dealers. The engine range includes marine diesel engines and gasoline engines with outputs from 7 to 590 kW. In some cases, these engines are not developed by Volvo Penta itself, but are purchased from third-party manufacturers (for example Perkins , Kubota and Deutz AG ).

Volvo Penta has made marine history with some of its numerous innovations, such as the sterndrive and the Duoprop with counter-rotating twin propellers. With its new propulsion system IPS for yachts up to 100 feet , Volvo Penta has developed a new propulsion system in recent years. It has forward-facing twin propellers, individually controllable drives and is controlled by a joystick.
