KK Kubota ( Japanese 株式会社 ク ボ タ , Kabushiki-gaisha Kubota , Engl. Kubota Corporation ) is a Japanese company based in Osaka .

The company produces construction machinery, such as mini excavators and wheel loaders , as well as tractors , lawnmowers and combustion engines. The current president of the company is Masatoshi Kimata. The German branches are located in Rodgau (engines, tractors and municipal machines) and Zweibrücken (construction machines). All mini excavators sold in Europe are manufactured in a factory in Zweibrücken , built in 1988 .

history

The company was founded in February 1890 as an iron foundry, the founder was Gonshiro Kubota. In 1922, the company brought its first kerosene-powered engine onto the market, in the mid-1940s the product range was expanded to include agricultural machines and equipment, and later other utility and multi-purpose vehicles and machines followed. Even today, some engine components come from the company's own foundry.

At the end of December 2011, Kubota became one of the largest shareholders in the Norwegian agricultural machinery manufacturer Kverneland with around 32% of the shares . In 2012, Kubota Corporation secured another block of shares. Kubota has been the majority shareholder since then.

In 2015, Kubota opened a new factory for tractors in Bierne, France . In 2016, the US agricultural machinery manufacturer Great Plains Manufacturing was taken over.

In March 2019, Kubota and Buhler Industries announced that Buhler will manufacture tractors in the power range from 170 to 200 hp for Kubota. The Canadian company Buhler is controlled by the Russian agricultural machinery manufacturer Rostselmasch .
