Bierne ( Dutch beers ) is a French municipality with 1831 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dunkerque and is part of the canton of Coudekerque-Branche (until 2015: Canton Bergues ). She belongs to the Communauté de communes des Hauts de Flandre . The inhabitants are called Biernois .

geography

Bierne is located about eight kilometers south-southwest of Dunkirk in the Pays Moulins de Flandre landscape . The Canal de Bergues runs along the eastern edge of the municipality . Bierne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Téteghem-Coudekerque-Village in the north and north-east, Bergues in the east, Socx in the south, Steene in the west and south-west, Armbouts-Cappel in the west and north-west and Cappelle-la-Grande in the north-west.

The national route 225 runs through the municipality .

In 2015, the Kubota group opened an assembly plant for tractors in town. Ball Packaging Europe operates a factory for the production of packaging for the beverage industry.
